Join hosts Rebecca Harris, Scott Cam, Peter Everett and members of Nine's lifestyle family as they descend on a residence and work their renovation magic, while owners are pampered and rejuvenated at a dream destination.
After migrating to Australia from China in 1962 with her Russian parents and six siblings, Paula Zelynski worked in a factory making bags for cement before taking a role at the Royal Hospital for Women in Paddington, Sydney, where she met her husband George, a Ukrainian-born Australian.
Known for her caring nature, Paula later became a member of the Community Visitors Scheme and now spends her time improving the lives of residents in nursing homes.
In 2000, Paula became her husband's full-time carer. He died in April this year. Paula's three children see Renovation Rescue as an opportunity to give their special, outspoken mother a fresh start and a chance for her to do all the things she could not do while her husband was still alive.
Paula's beautiful Federation home is a blank canvas for the Reno team, whose aim is to give the place a fresh new look in keeping with the home's period features.
After Paula's bedroom was given a bold but stylish boost. The team replaced the room's aluminum window frames with cedar colonial-style frames to better reflect the older home's charm.
After The backyard was also given an amazing overhaul. From being overgrown and under-utilised, the generous yard now features a secret rose garden, barbecue area and cubbyhouse for Paula's grandchildren.
Paula was treated
to a getaway combining her three secret passions: chocolate, Latin music
and Stingers actor Peter Phelps. The place that combined the three
turned out to be … Hobart !
